Mehrpadin Mehriz Castle: a journey into the depths of history
Mehrpadin Mehriz Castle shines like a jewel in the heart of the Yazd desert. Architecture:
Mehrpadin Mehriz Castle, with an area of about 2000 square meters, consists of two sections, the Upper Castle and the Lower Castle, each of which has its own characteristics.
Upper Castle:
Towers and ramparts: 12 long and strong towers and ramparts surround the upper castle. These towers, which are located in the corners and sides of the castle, with a height of about 10 meters, made it possible to watch and shoot at the enemies.
Fences: The upper castle is surrounded by thick and tall fences made of clay and bricks. These fences, which have been resistant to enemy attacks as well as flood and rain, have guaranteed the security of the castle residents.
Vestibule: The main entrance to the upper castle is possible through a magnificent vestibule with a vault and brick arches and plaster decorations. The vestibule has been a space for passing and browsing as well as a place for rest and conversation.
Yard: In the center of the upper castle, there is a large and clean yard. Around the courtyard, there are many rooms for the residents of the castle to live and rest. These rooms have created a beautiful and pleasant atmosphere with brick arches and plaster decorations.
Other parts: In the upper castle, there were other parts, including stables, warehouses, kitchens, and animal shelters.
Lower Castle:
Warehouses: In the lower castle, there have been many warehouses for storing provisions, fodder and other necessities needed by the castle residents.
Stables: The stables of the lower castle used to keep horses, camels and other beasts of burden and herds.
Animal storage: In the lower castle, there was also a space for keeping domestic animals such as chickens, cows and sheep.
